Vinjana Chorale San Francisco
During Bi-weekly Saturday rehearsals, the varied campus choirs come together to form one unified choir,
Vinjana Chorale San Francisco , honing their skills and working towards seamless performances.
The Training Department choirs represent the pinnacle of children's choral training and performance.
Singers in these groups study music diligently and consistently throughout the year, demonstrating exemplary musicianship and commitment.
Vinjana Chorale San Francisco , in particular, helps promising young singers reach new heights of personal expression, form musical identities, and create deep bonds with like-minded friends. Choir members become proud ambassadors through local performances, professional collaborations, and tours. Each participant is required to show skill, vocal development, and dedication through their attendance and focus during rehearsals and performances.
The unified choir performs approximately three times per season and may tour domestically and internationally as opportunities arise. The program includes progressive music theory instruction and expands the repertoire to include multi-part music in various languages, offering increasing rhythmic and harmonic complexity.
The choirs perform a wide variety of choral literature, ranging from classical to popular/jazz, including pieces for different voice configurations based on the season's enrollment.
Additionally, the choirs collaborate with composers and arts organizations to present new music, make recordings, and perform for public events.
To better serve our San Francisco community and families, our Saturday rehearsals will be held at different SFUSD school sites, community organizations, and programs.
Our Repertoire.
Vinjana Chorale San Francisco sings a wide variety of choral music from all genres, cultures, and time periods.
Music is distributed to choir members during rehearsals, along with a choir binder in which to keep their theory workbook and the music. Choir members are responsible for taking the music home and bringing it with them to each rehearsal.
All music is the property of the participants upon reception.
If the music and theory binder and/or its contents are lost, you will need to purchase a replacement from the administrative team for a fee of $30.00.

Music Theory.
Our curriculum is designed to provide challenging, developmentally appropriate opportunities for young singers at each level.
Ideally, a child would master the curriculum for each level before advancing to the next.
Our curriculum spans from foundational musical notation, vocal techniques, and engaging activities for beginners, to advanced music theory, harmony, and performance skills for intermediate and advanced levels, offering developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for young singers. Emphasizing healthy vocal production, it covers critical elements such as posture, breath control, sound freedom, resonance, and phoneme uniformity.
Each level has tailored objectives to guide conductors in their work with their groups.
A typical rehearsal begins with group warm-ups that is integrated with the vocal and repertoire goals of the rehearsal.
Full group singing is often augmented with sectional work, during which the conductor focuses on a specific subsection of the larger chorus, giving attention to individual voices as needed.
From time to time, work on specific pieces may be punctuated by discussions, music theory or music history, which are again tied to the music or the current curriculum.
Progress Reports.
In the middle of each semester, Vinjana Chorale San Francisco, choral families will receive a report via email that summarizes the progress of the choir as a whole.
A singer’s individual progress is evaluated at the end of each semester.
These evaluations enable a conductor to measure the development of a child’s musical and vocal skills and his or her grasp of music theory.
The evaluations, along with conduct and attendance, serve as a basis for maintaining a view of the participants ability and growth, in order for the conductors to develop a plan that will assist in their understanding and advancement.
Training Department students receive evaluation reports within the weeks following the last rehearsal in each semester.
If you have any questions about your child’s evaluation or progress in general, please contact your child’s conductor.
